Take the Survey & Comment on Our Architecture

THANK YOU for taking the survey, if not...

TAKE THE SURVEY
So far we've had roughly 350 people take the survey. You have until May 24. Don't delay. Visit https://nursing.umaryland.edu/cgi-bin/rws3.pl?FORM=WebsiteRedesignTwo. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes to complete.

PLEASE COMMENT ON OUR SITE'S ARCHITECTURE
It is not too late to give us feedback on our new site's architecture (defined below).

We will be performing usability testing during the beta launch of the new site to make certain the new design is a vast improvement over the older site.

Until then you have the forum (here in the blog) to comment on that architecture. Please do!

Web site architecture is an approach to the design and planning of Web sites involving technical, aesthetic, and functional criteria. The focus is on the user and the user experience, with attention to usability, interaction design, and overall design.

  3. Wow, lots of good questions. I'll answer some here:

    RE: what is UMB research?
We wanted to give an overview of research on campus because many of our faculty members work across disciplines.

    RE: what are jobs link?
We are changing that naming to "Employment," and it is for employment at the School. Much like our HR page now.

RE: only 1 center of excellence.
Yes, we have one official COE and four others that are developing or proposed. All COE, no matter official title, will have Web space.

RE: how many calendars are needed? can't there be one?
We will have one central calendar, that will feed the other ones. Calendars will also be tied to RSS feeds.

    RE: why collaborative outreach?
The term "Collaborative Outreach" came out of our card sorting exercise a while ago, and I think one of our alumni who works at the hospital helped us come up with the term. It's an intriguing term that includes our partnerships, community service/centers, global health initiatives, and the work of one of our offices (OPO&CE).

where is the public affairs office??
"Public Affairs" is a term used on other university Web sites, and usually includes communications and develoment. ASU is an example of this: http://www.asu.edu/vppa/

  4. I'd like to chime in on a couple questions:

RE: i like simulation and learning labs -- but what is that?
Simulation and learning labs are being brought together in one place to show the depth of active hands-on learning.

RE: What is meet our faculty?
""Meet Our Faculty" is intended to highlight faculty and their accomplishments

RE: what is under housing? And where is the student center? what about UMB?
All of these topics will be found under "About Us" and “Student Resources."
"Housing" includes info on the type of on-campus housing, and, yes, we will have information on the new student center.
UMB will be linked from out site, as appropriate/needed.
