Your Input is Needed!

Over the next 5-6 months I will work with LMD (see post below for info on LMD) to design, develop, implement the first phase of our redesign efforts. And I need your help!

This blogging framework will be used to get SON community input. I will post screenshots, surveys, alpha and beta versions of the new site in progress for comment and evaluation.

Soon we will kick-off the project with information gathering and the development of a creative and technical brief.

In the 5-6 weeks after that initial meeting LMD will conduct phone interviews with nine (9) stakeholders, develop a new site architecture, assist in some technical selections including: the best CMS, Web site host, and other items that come from our needs assessment.

Look for another update during that time.

  2. Bryan,

This blog is a great idea to keep your stakeholders informed and get their input. We're really excited about this project and building a website that reflects one the of the nation's top nursing programs!

  3. I'm really looking forward to this redesign. This is such an important project. Thanks for the opportunity for input. Two things I would like to see: pictures of faculty and staff with REAL patients, even though I LOVE simulation; and a schedule of where classes (i.e. students) are at any given moment. So if for example, a faculty, student, staff, or community partner wanted to reach 3rd semester students, she/he would see on this schedule that they meet Mondays, 8:30-10:30 for Peds N308 in room X,and that Y was the instructor, 11-1 in room Z for Psych, etc. This could be done for the major undergraduate and graduate courses. It's just a way of rearranging the schedule of classes. For announcements, special events, and research, such a schedule could be very helpful. Good luck with this.

  4. I agree Professor Fountain. I think student blogs, interviews with students and an alumni site where we could catch up with old friends.

  5. Yes! One of the things we'll be doing is creating the infrastructure for student and faculty blogs.

We plan to make the SON web site more "Web 2.0" friendly -- meaning, we're going to turn the static web into something much more dynamic. So content changes, content is created by users, and the like.

As far as an alumni site..., our alumni office, in conjuction with main campus, is looking into several options for developing a social networking site built exclusively for students and alum.
